TIFF[티프]는 스캐닝 이미지를 포함하여 응용프로그램 간에 래스터 이미지를 주고받는 보편적인 형식이다. TIFF 파일은 대개 파일이름 확장자에 “.tiff” 또는 “.tif”가 붙어있으므로, 쉽게 구분할 수 있다. TIFF 형식은 1986년에 Aldus Corporation(지금은 ‘어도비 소프트웨어’로 이름이 바뀌었다)이 의장을 맡고 있는 산업계의 한 위원회에 의해 개발되었다. 마이크로소프트나 휴렛패커드도 이 형식을 개발하는데 공헌한 회사들이다. 가장 보편적인 그래픽 이미지 형식 중의 하나로서, TIFF 파일은 탁상출판, 팩스, 3차원 응용프로그램 및 의료 이미지 업무 등에 널리 사용된다.

TIFF 파일들은 그레이스케일, 컬러 팔레트 또는 RGB 컬러 등의 몇 가지 등급으로 나뉘며, JPEG이나 LZW 또는 CCITT 그룹4 표준 등의 압축파일들을 포함할 수 있다.
